Institutionalism vs. Inspirationalism
|
|
|
|
"Any attempt to remake the entire educational system from
the top down will fail, because top-down mandates are, by nature, rooted in the
class model--relying on dictates and regulations from non-teaching experts, and
compliance by the technicians in the field.
"If all schools and teachers adopt
truly great education in this fashion they will bring the entropy of
bureaucracy, big-ness, systemization, and institutionalism into the mix.
"In other words, when passion
and inspiration are structured, systemized and enforced, they lose their
passion and inspirational qualities and become instead forced--or at best,
manipulative.
"For great education to occur, students must chose to study
long, hard and effectively because they genuinely love it."

Often cited by the DeMilles as their favorite work to date, this inspirational manual picks up where the primer/overview work, A Thomas Jefferson Education,
leaves off.
It develops in depth not only the philosophy but also the
nuts-and-bolts application of each individual Phase, the critical
Transitions between Phases and the "big-picture" vision to begin with
the end in mind.
Those who master the content in this book leave behind the question, "But how do you actually DO it?"
