What is your purpose?

T.S. Eliot says that the first thing we must know about any system
of education is what the ultimate purpose of the education is in the mind of
those who designed and run it.
People have suggested the following possible
ultimate goals of education:
- The transmission of culture
- To prepare citizens for democracy
- Happiness
- The development of personality
- Preparation to earn a living
- Self improvement
- Training to benefit the community and/or the
economy
- To spread equality
Pick your goal, and everything else about the educational
system will naturally flow from it.
For me, the goal of any educational system
should be real wisdom.
When a nation is educated to the level of real wisdom,
freedom, prosperity and morality follow.
