Behavior or Vision?
|
The conveyor belt and leadership models of education disagree about how to educate most effectively. Indeed, they are based on totally different assumptions and have very different goals.
Knowing these differences is essential to anyone trying to get off the conveyor belt, since it is not enough to merely change behaviors; you must also change paradigms.
If you try to implement Leadership Education with a conveyor belt mentality, you will constantly find yourself in the frustrating position of trying out new methods and techniques but applying them in the same old ways--without getting the hoped-for results!
Getting off the conveyor belt is much more than behavior modification; it is a shift of underlying beliefs and assumptions about education that brings values, vision and action into integral alignment.
