"Don't permit the student to write about something that doesn't interest her. This is a dead end of frustration and bad habits. Be in tune with the students passions and interests, fears and dreams, and encourage her to write about them.
"The passion to be understood is almost universal, and the student who sees herself growing in effectiveness while expressing herself will likely do so more frequently and with [increasing] skill."
